Birds sit along the concrete rim at the foot of the spillway at Asprokremmos dam, Cyprus, as falling water swirls beneath them. Asprokremmos, near Paphos, is the island's second-largest reservoir with a maximum water capacity of 52.3 million cubic metres. Following unusually heavy and prolonged rainfall in early 2012, the reservoir filled and overflowed on 27 January for the first time since 2004
